Tech Rescue offers three levels of Structural Collapse Rescue training: Awareness, Operations and Technician.  All levels meet or exceed NFPA 1670. Technician level meets or exceed NFPA 1006.
Awareness Level
Lecture to include:  Safety, Size up, PPE, Building Construction, Types of collapse, FEMA marking system, Hazards, IC.

Operations Level:  

At the completion of this course the student will be able to understand and identify the general hazards associated with structural collapse of a Type III and Type V building. They will be able to recognize potential conditions and assess the type of building construction, type of collapse and call for the appropriate resources to conduct safe and effective search and rescue operations. The students will also be proficient in visible and verbal search techniques as well as the FEMA and NFPA marking systems including the following: Structural Marking System, Search and Rescue Marking System, Victim Marking System, and Structural Marking within a Geographic Area System. The students will be able to assess and determine what shoring is necessary and where to place it. They will learn the fundamentals behind shoring and how to construct all FEMA shoring systems. Students will become up close with how dificult debris removal is within a collapsed structure and how to breech throught it to gain access to a victim  for packaging and removal.They will also rotate into a rescue officer position and run scenarios preparing them for technician level structural collapse class.  All scenarios are ran in partially collapsed Type V structures.

 

Technician Level

This intense course applies all KSA's from the operations level course and takes it to the next level. At the end of this course the student will be able to understand and identify the general hazards associated with structural collapse in TypeI - Type V buildings. They will be able to recognize potential conditions and assess the type of building construction, type of collapse and call for the appropriate resources to conduct safe and effective search and rescue operations. The students will also be proficient in visible and verbal search techniques as well as the FEMA and NFPA marking systems including the following: Structural Marking System, Search and Rescue Marking System, Victim Marking System, and Structural Marking within a Geographic Area System. The students will be able to assess and determine what shoring is necessary and where to place it. They will learn the fundamentals behind shoring and how to construct all FEMA shoring systems. They will also rotate into a rescue officer position and run scenarios preparing them for rescue officer positions. All scenarios are ran at UTTF1 training grounds or other locations with props to support concrete breeching, breaking and burning evolutions.
